AusZEH Retrofit Demonstration House

  The AusZEH Retrofit Demonstration House is a 3-bedroom detached home built in the mid 1960's and was rated at 2.3 stars.  The refurbishment and retrofit program will improve its rating to 5 stars plus, which is equivalent to the standard achieved with new built homes.

 As with our first demonstration house, this home will be monitored for a year to see how it performs with its energy efficiency improvements.

Refurbishment upgrades

The home will have a series of improvements undertaken to raise its star rating and lower its energy consumption and greenhouse gas impacts.  The improvements include:

  • Upgrading ceiling insulation

  • Installing wall insulation

  • Installing subfloor insulation

  • Replacing existing windows with double glazed windows

  • Weather sealing the house

  • Installing energy efficient lighting

  • Installing energy efficient appliances

  • Installing low emission and zero emission energy generation systems
