AusZEH Demonstration Homes

The AusZEH Project currently has three homes that either have been built or are under construction.  Each home has its own unique aspects and demonstrate the different paths to zero emission homes of the future.

Our first house was a new build home within the Laurimar Estate at Doreen, an outer northern suburb of Melbourne.  The second home is a retrofit and refurbishment project being undertaken in Pascoe Vale in conjunction with the Department of Human Services and our third home is another new build, but will become a Sustainable Living Hub and learning centre for new homes in Melbourne's south east.

AusZEH Demonstration House @ Laurimar

The AusZEH Demonstration House @ Laurimar is a 4-bedroom detached home that aims to deliver a residential home with a net zero carbon footprint.  It achieves this through a combination of energy efficient design and building practices, on-site renewable energy supply and an advanced energy monitoring and management system.

AusZEH Retrofit Demonstration House

  The AusZEH Retrofit Demonstration House is a 3-bedroom detached home built in the mid 1960's and was rating at 2.3 stars.  The refurbishment and retrofit program has now improved its rating to 5 stars plus, which is equivalent to the standard achieved with new built homes.

Selandra Community Place

The Selandra Community Place is being built in Melbourne's South East within a new residential development.  In conjunction with the City of Casey and the South East Councils Climate Change Alliance, this home will act as a meeting space and display centre for sustainability ideas and innovations to allow new home buyers an opportunity to see what options are available.
